Summary
A circular, white, ceramic plate for a baby (circa 1890) and used by members of the donor's family (donated in 2007). It has a completely flat base (for stability) and two grooves running around the sides. It is quite heavy and has very thick 'walls'. Transfer-printed in black on the top of the 'wall' is 'Baby's Plate' and on the inside of the plate is a colour image of some deer under some trees - this is quite rubbed and worn. There are the remains of narrow gold-coloured lines on both inside and outside edges of the 'wall'. On the base are several smudged marks - the brown one may possibly read 'Trentham'.
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Nigel S. Aspdin in June 2007.
