Summary

A Dungeons and Dragons adventure game with game sheet (board), card pieces, gazeteer book, adventure book, rule book, character sheets and a precis of the game rules, in its original box (circa 2000). The game sheet (board) is colour-printed, mainly in grey with brown edges on glossy paper and folded into eight to fit into the box. It is printed in squares to resemble paving slabs, groups of which are enclosed by 'walls'. These enclosed areas are numbered from 1 to 26. The card pieces for playing the game are colour-printed on two sheets of glossy thin cardboard with perforations for pressing them out to use. On one side of each piece is an illustration of the character or object, while on the reverse is its name (such as 'zombie', 'dwarven warrior' and 'hobgoblin'). The gazetteer has glossy, colour-printed covers and 32 pages of black-printed text and line drawings. On the cover is part of a map and the title. Inside the back cover is a separate colour-printed map. The adventure book, 'For the Dungeon Master Only', has a grey, black and white cover and consists of 48 pages of black-printed text with line drawings and images of parts of the game sheet. The rule book ('Don't read the Rulebook before starting play') also has a grey, black and white cover and consists of 32 pages of black-printed text with line drawings and images of parts the game sheet. There are seven colour-printed sheets folded together which contain details of each character and a precis of the rules. There is also a long, colour-printed card which folds out to reveal further information on how to play the game, printed in black and grey on a white background. The coloured side is printed with images of some of the characters and dragons involved in the game. Also in the box are a sheet of yellow paper printed in black with a summary of the game, a white card questionnaire, and a small white paper offer of 53% off one year's subscription to 'Dragon' magazine. The box consists of a base and a lid, each covered in glossy, colour-printed paper. The base is printed, mainly in white, with an introduction to the game and manufacturer's details such as ISBN and bar code. The background is an archway in a wall behind which is the entrance to a dark cave. On the lid is 'Dungeons & Dragons Adventure Game, The Adventure Begins Here!' and a background of four of the characters bursting through an arched doorway (whose door has been smashed down) followed by a dragon and a mass of flames. Total number of items is 21.
