Summary
A ‘Tri-ang’ (Lines Bros Ltd.) triple gabled, mock Tudor doll's house. It is the No. 64, made between 1930 and 1932,which, at the time was the largest house the company made. It was the only house in the range to have a sundial and a seat each side of the porch. The roof seems to have originally been thatched - Tri-ang changed the design to tile-effect in 1932 - and it would have also had three chimneys. The house was purchased by the mother (Susan Ball) of four boys (born 1930s to 1940s) who played with it in the 1930s and 1940s. It has a grey roof, white walls and green base. The front has twelve windows with black metal frames and 'leaded' panes. The doors are painted blue with decoration, knocker and letter box on the front door. The central porch surrounds the front door, two windows and has semi-circular seats in the back corners. Above this is a square, metal sundial. The top of each gable and above the door is painted with mock timbers. The right hand section contains a garage with double doors, one is missing. In the left side wall is a small door. The fronts of the three gables open to reveal six rooms some linked with interior doors. There is a flight of stairs leading to the first floor. The windows have strips of lace for curtains and the rooms are papered. Seven windows are broken, some wall paper and half the garage door missing. It is possible that the original chimney is missing. On either side of the house are three levers fitted into the base possibly for lighting. Fittings for batteries and information on use are on the underside of the base.
