Summary
A boy's white cotton pique long-sleeved coat dress (1870s). The coat has a scalloped finish to the front edges and hem, inside of which is a narrow band of machine embroidery. The coat has a waistband at the back into which the lower half is pleated. There are six buttons and buttonholes down the front. The top button is linen, two of the others are similar, of a different design, and the bottom four are mother of pearl. Attached to the side seams and shoulders are two loose side pieces with the same edging and embroidery. Each of these sides has a pocket with an embroidered flap. At the neck edge is an embroidered collar and a band of broderie anglaise. The long sleeves have a scalloped band attached to the front of the sleeve only. Part of a collection of baby clothes worn by members of the Allsopp family circa 1875 - 1887. .
