Summary
A large beige teddy bear covered with plush fur (circa 1910). He has black button eyes, the right one somewhat out of line. The stitching marking his nose is coming adrift and may not be original. He has orange felt paws which look like replacements. The hind paws feel as if the soles are reinforced with card, and the right one has holes in the felt, possibly moth damage. He has three stitched claws on his hand paws and four or five claws on his feet paws. There is a slight hump on his back. He is wearing a brown check ribbon round his neck. It is thought that this is possibly the toy of the donor's wife and dates from about 1910.
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood as a bequest by Mr Reginald Frederick Edgcombe in October 2004.
