Summary
A Tri-ang circus van made of metal, C.1963-1964. It has a red cab, blue body and six black, rubber tyres. Rectangular shapes have been cut into both sides of the body to give the appearance of bars. The sides are decorated with transfers of circus acts and the words 'Tri-ang Circus Van' in red and blue on a yellow background. It has a red sub-frame and red mud guards over black tyred wheels with silver coloured painted hubs. The back of the van opens out to form a ramp. The red cab has chrome finished bumper, grid and lights, which is pitted. At the front the windscreen has been bent inwards to form brackets. Fastened to the right flap, by a split pin, is a steering wheel. The left bracket has a hole but no wheel. This could mean a wheel is missing or that the van was made to be adaptable for left or right hand drive. On the base is a white paper label with 'Tri-ang, Regd Trade Mark, Made in England' printed in red and black. The paintwork and transfers are scratched and there is some rust.
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Dennis Darlington in November 2004.
