Summary
A card game called ‘Progress’, consisting of fifty-five cards and two booklets in their original box (circa 1938). Each card has a colour printed illustration of some part of the Pilgrim's Progress with a number, in a square, at the top right hand corner. The reverse side has a pictorial illustration of the pilgrim's progress, in red printing ink, inset into a rectangle surrounded by further illustrations in rounds and ovals. The card illustrating John Bunyan has a 'P' in the top left hand corner. There are two paper booklets, one the rules of the game, sixteen pages of black text, and the other a resume of the story of the Pilgrim's Progress, thirty-two pages of black printed text. The original beige coloured cardboard box has a padded top with the name of the game and the series name, in brown printing ink, and on the left hand side a crown and spear. These cards were owned by Miss Irene Smith of Aston Birmingham as a child(?). She went to Sunday School and taught at Aston Methodist Church Sunday School.
