Summary
A wooden-headed doll of a Chinese man, made at a 'Door of Hope' mission in China. The features are carved and painted. He has mainly painted black hair which culminates in a black hair pigtail. The body is stuffed as are the upper arms and upper part of the legs, which are jointed on to the body. The forearms, hands, legs and feet are made of carved and painted wood. He is wearing a cream jacket which reaches to the top of the legs. It has a mandarin collar, long sleeves and fastens with frog fastenings on his right. It is trimmed with brown braid and the fabric is in a poor state. Beneath this is a long-sleeved shirt with embroidery along the edges. Both the jacket and the shirt have slits up the sides. He has long trousers that are held at the waist by tapes and trimmed with brown braid at the bottom. He is wearing fabric socks and fabric shoes that are falling to pieces.
