Summary
A large hard plastic 'Rosebud' doll (circa 1950), with open and closed blue eyes, an open mouth with painted tongue and two top teeth and moulded hair dressed in her orginal clothes. She has jointed arms and legs. She wears a short sleeved lilac rayon dress with pink braid at the hem, and a back opening, closed by two buttons and nine loops. On her head is a lilac rayon bonnet with a front frill edged with pink braid, tied under the chin with a pink ribbon. Underneath her dress is a pair of rayon lilac knickers. On her feet a pair of cream plastic strap shoes, one of the buttons is missing. A series of punched holes in her back may have been associated with a voice box. The donor of this doll was born in 1943 and was probably about seven years old when she was given the doll. Clothes probably knited by donor's mother and cousin. Probably a Christmas present about 1950.
