Summary
Three metal toy train carriages; part of a larger train set. Each carriage has a grey painted roof. The sides have two red longitudinal stripes, one just below the roof and one reaching to door handle height. There is a pale yellow band at the window level. One carriage has two painted doors with three rectangular windows and one round, and the number '10141' painted on the side. The other two carriages have two painted doors with '1' painted on the bottom half, four rectangular windows and one grey round window, and the number '10139'. The ends of the carriages are painted black with small lettering in pale blue that reads 'Chad Valley, Made in England'. Along the side of the roof on either side is a white notice with black lettering that reads 'The Flying Scotsman'. The base is painted black and carries two rotating mountings that each carry four wheels and two axles. Played with by the donor - circa 1950 to circa 1955. The sets could possibly made around 1940. Total number of items is 3.
