Summary
A family of seven early 20th century small dolls.These dolls could possibly be tin-headed 'Minerva' dolls, made in Germany - during this the late 19th and early 20th century doll makers began to look use different materials to the easily breakable bisque. They comprise of a grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, boy, girl and nanny. They are all made of metal (tin) with moulded and painted facial features. They all have bendy arms and legs encased in a flesh coloured narrow tape. Grandfather has a white shirt with a grey felt jacket which has a black collar, cuffs and ties. He has black felt trousers and black metal painted shoes. Grandmother is wearing a green felt top with a jacket and skirt in beige fabric with three brown buttons and two pockets each with one button. She also has black painted shoes. Father is wearing a long white cotton smock and black felt trousers with black painted shoes. Mother has a blue and white checked fabric dress with red cuffs, belt and collar and black painted shoes. The small boy has blue and white pyjamas with a white collar and a white belt. He has red painted shoes. The small girl is wearing white with red spots cotton pyjamas with a white collar. His shoes are painted red. The nanny has a blue/white checked fabric dress with a white cotton apron edged with lace. She has black painted shoes. Total number of items is 7.
