Summary
A pack of linen-reinforced playing cards in their original box (1930-1950s). There is a full set of 52 cards, plus one Joker, one blank card and instructions for Contract Scoring on another card. On the back of each is a colour-printed image of an elegant 1930's couple in evening dress relaxing by a fireside. There is a dark red border at the top and bottom decorated with a gold-coloured design, and the words 'Gas for Healthy Warmth' across the lower one. The box is made of cardboard covered in white glossy paper and is in two parts, one sliding inside the other. The outer part has a white paper label on one side, printed in red with a design of a ship's mast and anchor and a British flag, with a chain-design border and 'All British Playing Cards' in a rope-design border at the centre. Total number of items is 57.
