Summary
A Post Office Savings Bank money box is in the shape of a prayer book with a red imitation leather cover and cardboard box. Stamped on the front in gold coloured ink is the royal crest with lion and unicorn and the words 'Post Office Savings Bank'. A crown and interlocking letters POSB are stamped in gold coloured ink on the spine. Between the covers is gold coloured metal. On the top the number '61281' is impressed. There is a small lock on the side and at the bottom there is a slot for coins, and a round hole with lettering impressed 'For Notes'. Below the coin slot are impressed the makers details and patent number. The box is orange cardboard with a bold design printed in black on the front, of triangles in bottom left and top right corners, a royal crest surmounted by a crown and Post Office Savings Bank in bold capitals. Instructions for use are printed on the back in small type. On the one side is handwritten in ink 4.7.49, £1.13.6 (one pound thirteen shillings and sixpence sterling). Total number of items is 2.
