Summary
One of the puppets made for and used by the ‘Lilliput Marionette Theatre’. This marionette was not identified by former company members. However, this puppet looks similar in style (Tudor costume) to other characters identified in the play 'Faust'. The conserved lady marionette comes complete with control and strings. Her head is composition over a metal frame with a wooden body arms and legs. Her hands are made out of composition over metal. She is jointed at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, knees and ankles with metal. She has painted and moulded facial features with blue eyes and eye shadow and red lips. Her hair is curly blonde, made out of an artificial material and plaited in ringlets below her ears. The lady puppet is wearing a long green silk dress patterned with brown flowers and trimmed with lace. The collar is broad in green silk and white lace. Her overskirt is purple corduroy with two white artificial flowers at her waist. Her shoes are blue painted wood and one foot has been remade during conservation.
Provenance
