Summary
One of the puppets made for and used by the ‘Lilliput Marionette Theatre’. This marionette has been identified as a 'male character' and is from a play entitled 'Faust'. A marionette of a male figure, without the control, dressed in Tudor costume. He wears a pale blue velvet hat over a black velvet nape cloth. He has prominent blue eyes under white eyebrows, carbuncle nose, prominent nostrils, petulant lower lip and a whisp of beard on the chin. The figure is clothed in a red velvet, fur edged, cloak. The torso has a horizontal purple and mauve striped garment with metallic narrow fabric decoration. This is mirrored on the forearms. The protruding stomach has a belt with a pouch over a skirt with olive and orange horizontal striped fabric. The legs are painted green to simulate hose. The simulated leather shoes on the feet are painted green. These shoes are decorated by cutting a pattern of holes with purple coloured infill, and have lead heel plates. The figure has a chain and medallion hung around his neck and all limbs are fully articulated. The figure carries signs of serious damage caused by wear and usage.
