This marionette has been identified as a 'jester with guitar' and originally the 'timid ogre' redressed since the early 1960s' and is from a play entitled 'Hansel and Gretel'. Its control is still attached. The head and hands are made of a hard modelling material with the shaped and painted features of an elderly man. The eyes and mouth open and close. It has curly ginger hair and side whiskers. The padded body has a wooden frame and jointed wooden legs and arms. Its costume consists of a red and yellow blouse, short green pantaloons and a wide cummerbund in green, all made of satin. It has red satin shoes and a blue pointed hood. The legs are painted white. The wooden guitar, painted brown and white, is hung over the left shoulder on a blue tape. The puppet is connected to the control with clear plastic line.
