Summary
One of the puppets made for and used by the ‘Lilliput Marionette Theatre’. This marionette has been identified as 'an angel from Marguerite's vision' and is from a play entitled 'Faust'. A small marionette puppet angel without a control. He has a plaster face on top of wood with painted and moulded facial features. His body is also made of the same material and is jointed with metal at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, knees and ankles. The angel's left arm is detached at the shoulder, but still attached to the strings by one finger. The angel has blonde curly hair, possibly real, and the wooden wings on his back are painted a silver colour. He is unclothed. Various strings are attached to his body and tangled around his head.
Provenance
