Summary
One of the puppets made for and used by the ‘Lilliput Marionette Theatre’. This marionette is a 'devil' and is from a play entitled 'Faust'. A red painted marionette devil without a control. He has a pointed wooden head with painted and moulded facial features, consisting of white eyes with black pupils, a pointed nose and a wide mouth painted green, red and white. At the sides of his head are two pointed red painted leather ears. The devil's body is also made of wood with modelling material hands and is jointed with metal at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, knees, ankles and hooves. His left hoof is missing. The remaining one is made out of unpainted lead. His neck and wrist joints are covered with net. He has a drilled tummy button and a red painted string tail attached to his bottom. Long coils of black strings are attached to the devil in various places. Also included as part of this object are two short rectangular pieces of wood. Both have one notch and a semi-circular indentation cut into one edge. Total number of items is 3.
