Summary
One of the puppets made for and used by the ‘Lilliput Marionette Theatre’. This marionette was identified as a 'mermaid' and is from a play entitled 'The Little Mermaid', without a control. Her upper body, arms and tail are of wood with a plaster face and modelling material hands. Her lower fish like body is of soft padded material covered in layers of fish scales made of alternate rows of material in shades of green, white patterned see-through material and dark green plastic. On this are hung discs of shiny green and silver plastic. She has leather joints at her elbows and metal joints at neck, shoulder and wrist. The blue painted wooden tail is attached with string. Her face, upper body, arms and hands are painted white. Her moulded face has a green painted mouth with a green sequin struck on. Her eyelids are painted black underneath and green above with two green sequins stuck on each one. Her eyes are a gold coloured disc with a black shiny raised centre with a tiny green sequin at the inner corners. Her lower eyelashes are of brown hair and she has short straight black hair. A white cord is attached to her head with broken strings of nylon fishing line attached to her limbs.
