Summary
A rag doll dressed as the American suffragette 'Susan B Anthony' in its original box. The doll has a stuffed fabric body with printed face, arms, legs and clothes. She has printed facial details, printed long brown hair; grey cap with a stuck on lace trim. She wears a grey dress of which the arms and bodice are printed on the body and the skirt is attached at the waist. She has printed hands, printed upper legs and grey printed boots. She has stuck on lace trims at the sleeves and down the front of the bodice. She has a white satin bow tied around her waist. She wears a separate blue, white and red fabric sash over her shoulder which reads 'VOTES FOR WOMEN'. Also an original rectangular cardboard box which opens at either end and has a clear plastic window. A flap is attached which closes completely over the window. On the front sides and back is a colour illustration of a building decorated with flags and banners. For example; 'Equal Suffrage League/ Votes for Women’ or ‘Help us to Win the Vote!' This doll was part of the ‘Famous Americans Series 1’ made by Hallmark. Total number of items is 2.
