Summary
A 1960s Peggy Nisbet plastic doll dressed in modern Highland dress from her 'Scottish Traditional Costumes and National Dress' or 'British Traditional Costumes' series. Series number BR.323. The company produced national costume dolls from the late 1950s to 1982. She has moulded and painted facial features with long brown hair fastened in two coils at her neck, and moveable arms. Her square necked, short sleeved, full skirted dress is in flock embroidered dirty cream organdie. Over her shoulder is a broad plaid ribbon fastened at the neck with a silver buckle with an orange stone in the centre. Beneath her dress is a stiff dirty cream organdie petticoat edged with cream lace. Beneath this she has a pair of short white organdie pants also edged with lace. Black shoes are painted on her feet. She stands on an oval silver metal stand with a spring across her feet. On her left arm she carries a folded card which reads 'Collectors Costume Dolls by Peggy Nisbet, made in Scotland' in white on red. Inside in black on cream it reads 'Scottish Traditional Costumes and National Dress, BR 323, Modern Highland Dress Evening Wear (Lady)'.
