Summary
A late 1960s Peggy Nisbet plastic costume doll portraying Mary Poppins from her 'Walt Disney Dolls' range. Series number H.280. The company produced two Mary Poppins dolls - this one is dressed in a summer dress. Walt Disney dolls were produced from 1967 to 1970. She has jointed arms, moulded and painted facial features and black hair. On her head is a white, wide brimmed hat with pink flowers tied under the chin. She wears a long sleeved white nylon dress with a wide pink sash. The skirt has pink bows of thread and a printed floral design, with lace at the neck and wrists. Underneath she wears two nylon petticoats, one white and one pink with a frill, and a pair of lace edged drawers. On her feet are a pear of gold coloured painted shoes. In her left hand is a pink and white plastic umbrella with a bird handle. The doll stands on a metal stand with a spring. Printed on a label in her right hand is 'A Walt Disney Character, H/280, Mary Poppins'.
