Summary
A 1960s Peggy Nisbet costume doll portraying Napoleon Bonaparte (1769–1821). from her 'Historical Dolls'. Series number H.229. He has a plastic head with moulded and painted features. His hair is painted. He is wearing his characteristic hat made of black felt. His body and limbs are plastic, the arms are jointed at the shoulders but the legs are fixed. He has a long black felt overcoat with a wide collar. Beneath this is a black felt jacket which covers a white satin waistcoat which has a red sash. He has white leather breeches and black knee-length leather boots. Attached to his left wrist is a label which reads on the outside 'Collectors Costume Dolls by Peggy Nisbet, Made in England' and on the inside 'H/229, Napoleon Bonaparte, 1769-1821'.
