Summary
A 1960s plastic Peggy Nesbit costume doll portraying Lord Nelson (1758-1805) from her 'English Historical Costumes' or 'Historical Dolls' series. Series number H.233. He has moulded and painted facial features with a white wig tied into a double pony tail with a black ribbon. His right eye is covered by a black leather eye patch. Lord Nelson wears a black felt hat edged in gold coloured thread and a dark navy blue felt frock coat with gold coloured thread decorating the lapels and cuffs. On his shoulders are gold coloured thread epaulettes. His (missing) right arm is hidden by his cuff. His cravat is white artificial silk and his waistcoat is white artificial fabric with several white plastic buttons. His trousers are made out of white kid leather, his knee length socks are white artificial fabric and his shoes are black leather. He is standing upon a metal base. Attached to Nelson's sleeve is a manufacturer's label with the following information; 'Collectors Costume Dolls by/ Peggy Nisbet, Made in England'. On the inside is 'English Historical Costumes, H/233, Horatio Lord Nelson 1758-1805'
