Summary
A 1960s plastic Peggy Nisbet costume doll dressed as Queen Elizabeth II (b.1926) in State Robes from her 'Historical Dolls' series. She has moulded and painted facial details with dark brown curly hair topped by a gold crown with diamante jewels. Her dress has a short sleeved scooped neck bodice in cream cotton with gold thread decoration. The four panelled skirt is in a heavy cream damask embossed in cream and gold. Over her left shoulder is a blue ribbon sash fastened at the waist with a gold medallion with a central red cross on a white background. Around her neck is a diamante necklace and a tied length of stiff gold braid. Her arms move from the shoulders and in her right hand she carries a gold sceptre with a green jewel. In her left hand is a gold orb. Fastened to her shoulder is a very long heavy purple velvet train with the underside and edge trimmed in white fur (fake ermine). There is gold embroidery down each side and a crown and 'E R' in gold thread at the base of the train. Beneath her dress is a plain white net petticoat and beneath this a stiff white muslin petticoat edged in white lace. Her short undergarments are in muslin edged with lace. On her feet are short boots in the bodice fabric. She stands on a grey metal oval plinth with coiled spring across her feet. A black and white label on her arm reads 'Collectors/ Costume/ Dolls/ by/ Peggy Nisbet/ MADE IN ENGLAND' on the outside. On the inside reads 'Her Majesty/ Queen Elizabeth/ in State Robes'..
