Summary
A plastic costume doll dressed as Queen Mary (wife of King George V). She has moulded and painted facial features and moveable arms. She has white curly wool hair gathered into a topknot with a diamante tiara. Her low square necked dress has elbow length sleeves and a shaped full skirt in pale blue organdie decorated with bands of silver thread. Across her chest is a blue ribbon sash and a silver emblem bearing a red cross on a white ground. She has a long purple velvet cloak trimmed with gold braid and lined with white fur, fastened at the neck with gold cord. Beneath her dress she has two white petticoats, one edged with lace. Beneath these are short lace trimmed knickers. She has long white knitted stockings and pale blue fabric shoes. She stands on an oval silver metal stand with a spring across her feet. Attached to her arm is a folded label that gives details of the doll’s maker, character and a short history.
