Summary
A 1960s plastic Peggy Nisbet doll possibly from her 'Portrait Doll' series and portraying Queen Elizabeth I (1533–1603). Series number P.601. She has moulded and painted facial features, red hair dressed with pearl coloured beads and green glass jewels. She wears a white long sleeved satin dress, the skirt studded with green glass jewels and 'pearls' in a diagonal pattern. From each shoulder hangs a green, velvet, full length stole lined with the same material as the dress and a gold and silver coloured fabric cape. Around the neck of the dress is a large white net ruff. She also wears a 'pearl' necklace and in her right hand she holds a metal, glass and bead sceptre and in her left hand a glass and metal orb. Underneath she wears a white satin petticoat with two hoops and a white straight petticoat. The doll stands on a metal stand with a spring. She is a Nisbet doll No.P/601. Printed on a label in her left hand is 'P/601, Queen Elizabeth I, 1533-1603, Made in England'.
