Summary
A 1960s plastic Peggy Nisbet doll possibly from her 'Royal Miniature Figures' or 'Historical Dolls' series portraying Queen Marguerite (de Valois) Queen of France (1553 - 1615). Series number H.257. She has jointed arms and dressed as Marguerite de Valois. She has moulded and painted facial features with dark brown hair and a gold coloured coronet. She wears a long sleeved blue net dress with a lurex pattern, a net ruff at the neck and lace at the wrists, and 'pearls' at the neck edge and on the sleeves. She also wears a gold coloured ric-rack edged fabric cape, a gold-coloured and white waistband, and at her neck a glass bead is on a chain. Underneath she wears a white satin petticoat with two hoops and a straight white cotton petticoat. She stands on a metal stand with a spring. Printed on a label in her left hand is 'A Peggy Nisbet Model, H/257, Marguerite de Valois, Queen of France, 1553-1615, Made in England'.
