Summary
A 1960s plastic Peggy Nisbet doll from her 'Royal Miniature Figures' or 'Historical Dolls' series dressed as dressed as Queen Catherine Howard (c.1525-1548). Series number H.221. She has moulded and painted facial features and moveable arms. Her blonde hair is covered by a black velvet snood edged with black and gold braid and five small pearls. She wears a black satin dress open at the front of the skirt to reveal a black velvet insert. The long puffed sleeves are also in velvet trimmed with the black and gold braid. She has black lace at her throat and two vertical bands of gold flowers edge the front of her dress. Beneath her dress she has two pink satin petticoats stiffened with pink net. Beneath these is a straight white linen petticoat. Her legs are painted white with gold painted shoes. She stands on an oval silver metal stand with a spring across her feet A string attached to her left wrist holds a card which reads 'Collectors/ Costume/ Dolls/ by/ Peggy/ Nisbet/ MADE IN ENGLAND/ Royal Miniature Figures/ H/ 221/ Catherine Howard/ 5th Queen of King Henry/ VIII/ Beheaded 1542/ 1520-1542'.
