Summary
A 1960s plastic Peggy Nisbet doll (circa 1958) from her 'English Historical Costume' or 'Historical Dolls' series dressed as dressed as Queen Anne of Cleves (1515–1557). Series number H.222. She has a plastic head with moulded and painted facial features. She has blonde nylon hair drawn back into two plaited buns. She has an elaborate headdress of pearls, rubies and sapphires with gold braid. Her arms are jointed at the shoulders but her legs are fixed. She wears a dark red velvet dress. The bodice has a square neck line and is trimmed with gold braid, rubies, pearls and sapphires. There are wide long sleeves trimmed with gold braid. There is a long skirt trimmed with gold braid. There is a stiff yellow petticoat and a white underskirt. The shoes are painted black and fit under the spring of the metal stand. A label attached to the left wrist reads 'Collectors/ costume/ dolls/ by/ Peggy/ Nisbet/ Made in England' outside and 'English Historical Costume/ H222/ Anne of Cleves/ 4th wife of Henry VIII' inside.
