Summary
A baby's cot made of wood painted pale green (circa 1900). The sides and ends have top and bottom rails joined by plain turned wooden slats. The base has a woven wire mesh spring which has been roughly repaired in the middle. A tapered knob on each corner post unscrews so that the sides can fit on to the posts, and a flat knob at each corner of the base also unscrews so that the ends of the base can fit into holes in the head and foot of the cot. There is a metal pin tied to a hook at one end of the cot. This pin fits into a slot on one of the knobs on the back and passes through the frame of the base to lock the structure together. A green and cream striped straw filled mattress upholstered with green canvas buttons. It has a white cotton loose cover with a metal press stud fastener, one of which is missing. Total number of items is 8.
Provenance
