Summary
A card game in its original box labelled ‘Bezique & Polish Bezique’(1950s). The box is made of cardboard and covered in glossy pink paper. It is hinged with cotton tape on the inside at the back, and divided in two inside. The label on the lid is also pink, printed in red, and reveals that the cards came from 'Boots'. In each compartment of the box is a wrapped pack of cards and a cardboard 'marker'. One also has a black-printed white card detailing the rules of the game. The cards have a blue design on the back, visible through the oval 'window' cut out of the printed tissue paper used to wrap them. A piece of cream cotton thread is also visible, across the middle, which presumably ties the cards together. The tissue paper is white, printed in blue with warnings concerning the selling and opening of the packs. The 'markers' are identical except in colour - one is yellow the other pink. Each is rectangular, printed in red and blue with Bezique marker' and star shapes which have numbers round the edges. In the centre of each 'star' is a pivoting gold-coloured metal 'hand' which can be moved round to indicate the score. Total number of items is 6.
