Summary
A card game entitled 'Mickey and the Beanstalk' with original cardboard box and instruction leaflet (circa 1947). The images on the cards come from the 1947 Disney film '"Fun and Fancy Free". The game consists of 44 colour illustrated 'playing cards' size cards and a fold out piece of card which has an illustration of a beanstalk on it. The pack is divided into 9 sets of 4 cards each with an illustration relating to the beanstalk story. A letter (A to I) appears in the corner top left and bottom right hand corner as well as a number between 1 and 4. There are 8 remaining cards of which 4 have an illustration of the 'Fairy Harp' and 4 an illustration of the 'Giant'. The fold out beanstalk card has on it letters from A to I. The aim is to collect sets of cards which are then placed on the beanstalk, which in turn shows the story. The reverse of all the cards has an illustration in blue and white of the giant, with Mickey Mouse standing in his hand. The original cardboard box is blue and has a colour illustration of Donald Duck, Goofey and Mickey Mouse inside a bean pod, and text naming the card game. The back has the same text but has a blue and white illustration of the giant. In addition, at the bottom of the box is the manufacturers’ name ‘Pepys'. One side of the box declares this 'Another Mickey adventure' and the other calls the card game 'a Giant amongst games'. The black and white printed instruction booklet has staples missing and the sheets are loose. Total number of items is 48.
