Summary
A sampler on fabric, possibly linen, by Mary Mowbray. Surrounding the text on all four sides in green, red, brown and navy are trees, plants, birds, animals, baskets of fruit and the alphabet and numbers at the top edge. The text in red, cream and brown stitches reads as follows 'In dawn of life I this began, From threa' to thread Ive traveld on, In hopes to find that blissful shore, Where angels shine for evermore, The loss of time is much, The loss of [friends] is more, The loss of Christ is such, As no man can restore. Mary Mowbray, Aged 12 years'. The sampler is in a wooden frame.
