Summary
A child's size, late 19th century (circa 1875) chair made from ash with a softwood seat. The chair has turned arms and front legs. The stretcher at the front and the bottom back rail are also turned. Each back upright and each back leg are formed from a single piece of wood. Above the turned bottom back rail is a wooden plate. The seat is solid and is nailed to a wooden frame. The stretchers are plain and unadorned. The whole chair is rather worn. Frank Hadfield was a cabinet maker and wheelwright working in Chapel-en-le-Frith.
