Summary

A 'Pedigree Dolls and Toys Ltd 'plastic doll in her original box, which gives her the name 'Baby Sarah' (circa 1982). She has moulded and painted facial features, rooted artificial hair (strawberry blonde), a swivelling head, and is jointed at the shoulders and at the tops of her legs. She is wearing a white cotton dress patterned with tiny blue and purple flowers with green leaves, with narrow white lace at the armholes and hem and a small white ribbon bow at the front of the short bodice. Inside is a white paper label which has 'Made in Hong Kong' printed in red. Underneath, she has a white cotton nappy which has a silver-coloured metal press-stud at each side. The cardboard box consists of two main pieces. The inner piece to which the doll was originally attached is coloured maroon, cut and folded to accommodate the doll, and has a white plastic-covered wire tie held in place at the back with a strip of pink plastic with holes in it. The outer box (slightly faded) is pink with purple-printed writing, has a textured surface, and has a cellophane-covered, circular 'window' at the front, which has a border of printed white daisies. Above this is written 'Baby Sarah', and at the bottom 'Pedigree', with a drawing of a girl playing with a similar doll. On the back of the box are diagrams showing how to change her nappy, with 'She feeds, and wets her nappy just like a real baby' in English, French, German, Italian and two Scandinavian languages. Also in the box is a small plastic feeding bottle which has a slightly translucent body (with marked graduations) and a pale pink teat. Total number of items is 4.
