Summary
An early 20th century (1900 - 1939) British made 'Dollies' composition doll. She is similiar in style to a 'My Dream Baby' doll. The head has a smoother finish than the body, arms and legs. The doll is articulated at the neck, shoulders and hips. The head has a moulded hair pattern, which is painted orange/brown in colour. The moulded ears have a touch of red colour, as have the cheeks, nose and eye sockets. The eyes are glass, blue with a black iris, and the eye brows and eye lashes are painted on. The doll is fully dressed in a full length dress made of plain weave cotton, originally white or cream, with a star fish all over pattern in red. The neck, elbow length sleeves, waist and hem all carry a frill in the same material. Under the dress is a full length white undergarment which carries some lace at the neck and pierced work descending on the skirt to the hem, in a floral flower, leaf and seed motif, finished with a scalloped hem. Underneath this undergarment are yellow coloured cotton drawers, wide legged with a lace trim. Here clothes are not the orginal and are of different ages.
