Summary
A bisque-headed 'Herm Steiner' 'Dolly Face' doll with moving blue eyes which open and close when tilted. The mouth is slightly open showing white teeth. The rest of the facial features are painted. The hair is brown, human hair stuck to the head and was possibly a short cut but a lot is missing. The painted composition body has moveable, shaped limbs which are connected to the torso by cords. She has moulded and painted white socks and brown shoes. She is wearing a home-made shift dress in pink and white striped cotton which has a grey dotted pattern. The dress is gathered at the neck and tied at the waist with yellow ribbon. Underneath is a pair of pink, woollen, knitted knickers with some large holes in, and a cotton vest.
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Mr and Mrs R. Dyson in May 1976.
