Summary
The white glazed china shoulder-head of the doll and a now separated body. The head is of a female with blue painted eyes, black pupils, black eye-brows, orange lips and nostrils. She has shoulder length curly beige painted hair with two blue painted ribbons over her ears. The words ‘Made in Japan’ are printed below the hairline on the shoulder at the back of the head. The separate body, made from red cotton cloth, is stuffed with wood chippings and also the upper arms from the shoulder to the elbow and the legs from the hips to below the knees. The lower arms and legs are bisque. The feet are painted red. There is dried glue round the chest of the body on the red cloth where the shoulder-head was stuck on to the body. The doll is wearing a pink and cream check coarse cotton dress. It has cream lace round the neck and round the short sleeves. It has two small buttons down the back opening from the neck to the waist.
