Summary
A baby's long white cotton robe with short sleeves (circa 1880 to circa 1900). It has a back opening that ties with two pairs of cotton tape. It has a pink panel inserted behind broderie anglaise at the front of the bodice. The sleeves are trimmed with lace. The front of the skirt has four panels, each consisting of four pin tucks, a row of broderie anglaise flowers, and a scalloped frill. Below these, two pin tucks and a scalloped broderie anglaise edge extend all around the hem. A note with this garment and others gifted by the same donor reads - "All are at least 80 years old, possibly 100, and were worn by at least 3 generations of the same family. They were originally worn by the children of the Mitton family (who were in business as plasterers in Burton on Trent - Anglesey Road and Beech Street)./ They were first worn by the children of the Mitton Family, one of whose daughters was mother to Mrs.Jones' husband. They have since been worn by relatives children on the Isle of Man."
