Summary
A pull-along 'horse on wheels' type toy horse and cart (1920s), possibly made by the German manufacturer 'Bauer and Krause', Leipzig, Germany. Manufactured from the late 19th century till the 1930s. Horses manufactured by this company had attached to the back of one hoof a embossed metal plaque - although is horses doesn't have this. The horse is made of wood covered in skin which is now mangy and worn away in places. The horse has an open mouth and inset glass eyes and a black hair tail. Attached to the underside of each hoof is a metal castor. The horse is wearing a brown leather harness attached to two wooden shafts. The horse is pulling a wooden cart with seating arranged back to back. The cart has two revolving wooden spoked wheels. The hub caps and rims of the wheels are metal.
