Summary
A woman's red rayon long-sleeved long dress with a red ribbon velvet trim. The dress has a round neck with a front opening, closed by nine fabric-covered buttons and bound buttonholes. A decorative strip of red velvet is attached at the neck and passes across to the underarm. The back has two piped panels, one of which opens and has metal hooks and thread eyes. The long skirt is gathered onto the top and has a thick red cord as a piping. This cord is covered at the waist and then continues as a tie. The skirt has two bands of velvet towards the hem and this area is lined and stiffened. The long sleeves, which have a gusset underarm, are gathered at the wrist up into a short piece of piping. There are a few very small pin holes in the sleeves. The label on the box states that this is a copy of a Victorian day dress.
