We think she is wearing national dress, but from which country?
Summary
A doll with a papier-mache head, and possibly torso, wearing what appears to be national costume. She has moulded and painted facial features and real dark brown hair with kid leather arms, hands, legs, feet. Wearing a red felt hooded shawl (decorated with a faded pink ribbon) containing a sewn in lace edged white cotton cap. Also a brown velvet and pink silk and white cotton lace edged bodice with metal braid cuffs and bodice trim; rayon brown outer skirt hooked up at front to reveal red twill underskirt white calico petticoat and cream knitted leg warmers and brown velvet shoes. Cream lace apron appears to be C.1840 A length of maroon ribbon and a child's fan with white sticks decorated with silver coloured decoration and green feathers some of which are missing.
