Summary
A small plate, or dish with a raised rim and central bowl in cream colured pottery, labelled 'Polychrome', with a highly glazed finish. In the centre of the plate is a large 'F' in black and white decorated with a red and white floral motif. beneath this is a black fox on a black foreground, with more red flowers. Behind him is a yellow landscape with black mountians. To the left of the 'F' is painted 'As you/ A cunning' and to the right ' See was/ old fox'. Around the rim are handpainted green leaves and red flowers with flecks of blue. On the base of the plate is a label which reads 'Polychrome 5'/ Alphabet plate/ hand-painted/ border c1860 DERSS 21620.
