Summary
Wooden Noah's Ark with opening on one side of the cabin (1880s). There is no panel to cover this opening; it is presumably missing. The Ark has a painted brown hull with routed groves to give the appearance of planks. The bows are decorated with a shaped piece of wood also painted brown. The cabin has a pitched roof also painted orange-red with carved tiles on the ridge and slopes. The cabin has four glass windows along the closed side with 5 pilasters between. There is a lean-to at the stern end. The cabin is decorated with embossed and plain paper in green, blue, brown and multicolour stripes. One carved wooden Noah's Ark grasshopper painted green. Part of one of its legs is broken off and missing. Two Noah's Ark carved and painted wooden foxes. They have orange-brown back, white-grey stomachs and black and white painted eyes. One carved wooden small black animal with a short upturned tail and red and black eyes. Two carved wooden black and white magpies. Both have lost a foot and their paint is peeling off. Two carved wooden ostriches painted grey with black legs. One has lost its feet and beak, the other half of its head. A carved wooden cockerel and hen, both painted grey with yellow legs. The cockerel is overpainted with red, the hen with yellow. Six carved and painted wooden birds labelled '6 odd birds'. One is fat and yellow; one is small and yellow-green with nails for legs; two are large and light grey with orange beaks, one has a dark grey breast and has lost a foot. The feet of the other are embedded in a piece of cork. Two grey birds with black forked tails and broken feet, one has a nail for a leg. Two carved and painted wooden thrushes with brown backs and speckled breasts. The legs of one have become detached, the other has a nail as a replacement leg. Two carved and painted robins. One has lost a leg which has been replaced with a drawing pin. Two carved wooden grey birds with forked tails, red wings and red on the tops of their heads. The paint is flaking off. 14 unidentified carved and painted birds. One pair are possibly woodpeckers with red heads, grey breasts, brown back with spots. One has lost a leg which has been replaced with a drawing pin. Two grey birds with forked tails and red legs. One has a black head and black and white painted eyes, the other has lost its head, both have lost parts of their feet. Two yellow-green birds with brown striped backs. One has lost a leg and has a nail for the other leg embedded in a piece of cork. Two blue, yellow, black and grey birds, one has a nail for a replacement leg. Two grey birds with red, black, white and yellow forked tails. Two blue and grey birds with black forked tails, one has a red breast. Two black birds with forked tails and black and white eyes.
