Summary
A music box in the form of a photograph album. The raised and rounded cover in cream edged with a black lined border depicts two children in oriental dress riding in an open car. One has pink flowers on her head, the other holds an open blue parasol over their heads. Each holds a Chinese lantern. The spine and back cover are in dark red material. There are four small metal feet on the back cover with a metal ring at the lower centre. There is a rectangular clasp on the centre edge of the front and back covers. The front half of the book consists of nine cardboard pages with cutouts for photographs or scraps. The back half, beneath a coloured picture of a girl in a cream, brown and red dress, holds the mechanism for the musical box, inset onto a cardboard base with four sides of metal. The first page of the photograph album has a frame of orange and blue flowers with a stream and cottage in the background, but no photograph. Page 2 has a scrap picture of a boy sitting on a stone with 1882 on it with a floral surround with a child at each corner. The facing page is empty, as is the next one except for a floral border. The next two pages are empty. The next four have printed coloured pictures on them. The next has a Christmas card with a bunch of blue embroidered flowers. The next one is blank. The next has a sepia photograph of three children, one in a pram. The next has a bright picture of pink and blue flowers and a small house, with two inset pictures, one of a robin, the other a rose in a glass. The last double page has four small black and white photographs on each page, seven of women with one man.
