Summary
A small wooden box containing the game of spellicans. (circa 1890 to circa 1900) The brown wooden box has a glued-in yellowing wooden base, on the underside of which are two written marks - '[pound sign]1-' and 'Kuf-'. There are grooves along three sides of the base into which fits the flat wooden lid having a raised end to match with the base. On this lid is stuck a green paper label, torn at one corner, edged in black print and stating 'The Game of Spellicans/ BONE/ This game may be played by two or more persons/ The Game does not only afford a source of amusement, but at/ the same time conveys instruction with it'. The box contains 34 assorted bone spellicans and three wooden ones. The rules are printed in black on cream paper. The instruction sheet is in three separate pieces with one corner missing. The spellicans each have a Roman numeral on them in red ink. Total number of items is forty two
