Summary
A wooden stereoscope viewer known as a graphoscope. A hollow wooden plinth supports a hinged wooden platform. The angle at which this platform can be set is determined by a wooden support, the height of which can be altered by the use of a brass plate divided into four sections. On top of the wooden platform is a bar with two holes. Slotted into these is a wooden viewer with two circular glass lenses. When the viewer is removed, a large lens on a hinged wooden frame may be used instead. This is held in place by a metal hook. In the centre of the platform is a rectangular slot. An upright wooden panel moves forwards and backwards in this slot. In front of the panel is a recess which holds four cards on each of which are mounted a pair of identical photographs. Images include building, coastal scenery, woodland scenery etc. A further four cards each mounted into a pair of identical sepia photographs are displayed alongside the graphoscope.
