Summary
A Chinese Opera doll and a variety of lacquered Japanese furniture and accessories. The doll has a composition over wood head. Moulded or carved and painted facial features. Metal upper legs, wooden lower legs and feet. Composition hands with individually moulded elongated fingers and thumbs. Wearing a red fabric long sleeved garment decorated with embroidered flowers and leaves. The bodice is a blue fabric panel decorated with embroidery. Underneath are striped fabric drawers which match the lining of the red garment. White fabric glued around lower legs. Red fabric shoes with high wooden soles. The Japanese lacquered furniture and accessories are painted black and gold and consist of the following - a teapot and a metal mirror contained in a saucepan shaped box in two equal halves; a large circular bowl supported on three feet; a hinged rack which folds flat; a hexagonal lidded box sitting inside a hexagonal stand with orange cord attached; a large rack supported by two shaped feet: a square table supported on a square base which is attached to the curved legs (one of which is broken); an assortment of bowls and lids (one of which may be the teapot lid); a bowl on a pedestal with a handle on each side; a lidded rectangular box containing a removable tray, chopsticks, a fan and comb, the lid held to the box with orange cord; a folding red screen, in two halves, with orange cord attached. There is also a small rack supported by two shaped feet.. Only the rectangular box, chopsticks, fan and comb are on display with the doll. Total number of items is thirty three
