Summary
A bisque-headed Bebe Jumeau doll with composition body, with jointed wooden arms and legs. Blue glass eyes, open mouth with teeth, pierced ears, blonde-brown hair. There are two holes in the back of the head and the words TETE JUMEAU stamped in red ink. The body of the doll is in two parts, the join is covered with cotton tape. In the left hand side of the body are two holes and there is a large hole in the upper back with a piece of wire mesh inside. This was a speaker but is no longer working. There is an oval paper label stuck to the doll's bottom reading 'BÉBÉ JUMEAU/ Diplôme d'Honneur'. There are also several words written in pencil on the doll's lower back and bottom [Vernon] [ ] [attendu]/ [Patour] [demettre] [la Vialle] [Pevuiqu]. The doll is wearing a cream muslin dress with pin tucks and lace trim at the neck and cuffs; a cream lawn waist petticoat with an embroidered net ruffle and tape ties, a cream lawn petticoat with gathered skirt and back button fastening; cream knitted wool socks and cream leather shoes fastened at ankle with cream ribbon ties. French, Jumeau, 1895=1905 A brown cardboard box with lid for 'BEBE Jumeau'. The box and lid are in a poor condition. The box is rectangular in shape and is split at each corners and has been crudely repaired with sellotape and brown fabric? sticky tape. Fixed into the base of the box are 4 white tape ties, presumably to hold the doll in place. A white and brown label on the end reads 'BEBE JUMEAU/ 10 PARLANT 10' With additional details reading ROUGE BLEU [CHATAN]/ chemise yeau coiffe'. The lid is in a similar conditon with ripped corners which have been repaired with brown sticky fabric? tape. The blue and white label on the end of the lid reads 'JOUET NATIONAL BEBE JUMEAU JOUET NAITONAL'. Stuck onto the reverse of the lid is a large white with black text label. The title reads 'MAISON JUMEAU/ Premiere Manufacture du monde pour la Fabrication des beaux Bebes'. Below is text written in French which gives details of the dolls attribute and beside this is a black line illustration of a Jumeau doll. Total number of items is two
